Thank You for your charity Nominations!Dec 8, 2011, 12:00 PM CST

Thank you fans for nominating some great charities. We received over 100 nominations. Some of these I had heard about and some were new to me. The Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund will be donating $1,000 to each of the following charities:

  • Autism Speaks (autismspeaks.org) works to increase public awareness and supports research regarding autism which affects so many kids. Thanks to fans James and Jason for nominating.
  • The Kingman Foodbank in Kingman Arizona. Thanks to fan Amber for nominating.
  • Phoenix Youth at Risk (www.phoenixyouthatrisk.org) has impressive success stories on their website about achievements of kids in their programs. Thanks to fan Jarret for nominating.
  • Parenting With A Purpose (www.parentingwithpurpose.org) provides support and mentors to kids who have a parent who is incarcerated. Thanks to fans Nancy, Vickie, Lorie, Roberta and John for nominating.
  • Streetlight Phoenix (www.streetlightusa.org) works to end child sex slavery. Thanks to fan Kevin for nominating.
  • Desert Dance Theatre (www.DesertDanceTheatre.org) creates programs that focus on the lives of prominent people who have fought for freedom. This year's presentation is Sister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Thanks to fan Lisa for nominating.
  • Special Olympics Minnesota and Special Olympics Arizona. A number of fans nominated Special Olympics programs.
  • Catholic Charities in Flagstaff Arizona provides everything from warm clothes to case management to people in need in Flagstaff. Thanks to fan Rose for nominating.
  • Starkey Hearing Foundation provides hearing aids to children who can't afford them. Thanks to an anonymous fan for nominating.
